General

CD (Ceske Drahy) is the national rail operator. 
Routes: Most popular routes are Prague, Brno, Ostrava and Olomouc.
Offers direct connection to most points in Europe, including Austria, Germany, Hungary and Switzerland.
Schedule of trains can be found on the Bahn and the CD rail websites. 
Service and Information desks are available at all major train stations. 
No luggage restrictions. However, the norm is 2 luggage bags per passenger and one hand piece bag. Train stewards won’t stop you unless your luggage is obstructing other passengers.
A pair of skis, snowboards, bobsleigh, small live animals and baby can be all considered as hand luggage. 
Luggage storage facilitates Self safekeeping boxes, showers; bike and car rental store, restaurants and shops are all available at major Czech stations.
Pets are allowed onboard provided that they wear a muzzle and kept on a leash. Owners must also pay a surcharge.
Bikes are allowed on most trains; however passenger might have to book a reservation for the bike onboard. 
Tickets can be booked online or paid for at the train station. Cheaper fares when you buy online. 
Book as early as possible for the lowest ticket fares.

Train Types

Osobni (Os) - local train that stops everywhere. 
Specny (Sp) - local train, normally skips little villages (Sp). 
Rychlik (R) - regional train, stops in major towns, commonly used for longer distances. 
Express (Ex) - faster regional train. 
Intercity, Eurocity (IC, EC) – modern longer distance train, stops in major cities.
Supercity (Pendolino) – fastest new trains, operates between biggest cities (compulsory reservation). 
International, long distance trains include sleepers, couchette coaches and dining cars.

Special Offers & Discounts

Family discount – Children go free with each full-fare adult ticket, one child aged between 4 and 15 can travel free, other children between 4-15 travel at half price. Children under 4 always travel free
If 10 or more of you are travelling with NSB, you'll qualify for a group discount. 
Students entitled to discounts on NSB trains (need to carry your student identity card); 25% discount on standard tickets for all departures. Students between the age of 16 and 30 also receive approximately 40% discount on 30-days season tickets.
Senior over 67 and disabled people (and their helper) get 50% concessionary discount
Season ticket holders, commuters and students can choose a duration and validity date to suit their needs; 7-day or 30-day tickets - each with their own benefits.
Military personnel qualify for up to 90% discount.
Customer card is a premier card that entitles you to discounts and benefits when travelling.
